// Industry Discussion

Direct air capture (DAC) technology will be one of the key building blocks in the future all over the world in the fight against climate change. DAC is one of the few processes to enable negative carbon dioxide emissions. The number of enterprises operating in this field of technology is increasing worldwide, making DAC systems fit for industry and turning them into viable business models.

Baden-Württemberg, given its industrial profile – boasting innovative enterprises in the mechanical and plant engineering sector and a strong supply industry – is destined to take on a leading role in developing and scaling DAC technology. Enterprises interested in entering the field of DAC technology are in receipt of support from the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Transport and Ministry of Economic Affairs by way of a wider discussion in industry in the context of the “DAC-BW” project coordinated by the ZSW.

Our aims are as follows:

  • To advise enterprises at state level with an interest in the skills and technologies required in terms of components and subsystems
  • To initiate product developments and to build up production capacity in the DAC sector in Baden-Württemberg
  • To network and cooperate with enterprises
  • To develop value-added chains for the scaling of DAC plants and e-fuel plants on an industrial scale
