"Direct Air Capture made in
Baden-Württemberg"

The kick-off event for the industry-wide discussion forming part of the project “Direct Air Capture made in Baden-Württemberg” was held at the ZSW on 24 November 2023 with over 60 in attendance.

DAC is used to extract CO₂ for the production of synthetic fuels and chemical precursors and also serves environmental protection purposes. A future market is seen as having considerable potential for manufacturers of metal products, metal components, plants and equipment. The starting point is the “DAC-BW” project (2022 to 2025), funded by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Transport to the tune of 1.4 million euro. The project benefits from a DAC research facility funded by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Economic Affairs and, in addition to scaling up and improving the efficiency of the systems, it aims to leverage regional potential for adding value and to establish a competitive industry for the production of DAC systems and supplier components in Baden-Württemberg in the DAC sector. There are plans to launch an industry-wide discussion and to run various industry workshops to inform relevant enterprises from the supply industry and from the mechanical and plant engineering sector.
